Susan Lucci will take her final bow as Erica Kane this fall. ABC announced that "All My Children" will broadcast its last episode in September 2011. It will be followed by "One Life to Live," which will make its final wrap in January 2012. They will be replaced by two new shows, "The Chew" and "The Revolution," which will center around food and lifestyle.

Jeff Martin, played by Charles Frank, was Erica Kane's first husband on the show. Lucci joined the cast of "All My Children" in 1970, and the couple is seen here in a scene from 1971. Lucci has played Erica for more than 40 years, and in 1999 she won the Daytime Emmy for the role after being passed over 18 times. The actress has a new memoir out called "All My Life."

Lucci and co-star Nicholas Bendict in 1975. Benedict played her character's husband Phil Brent.

Erica Kane married former football hero Tom Cudahy (Richard Shoberg) on the show in 1978 on the rebound after a failed affair with Nick Davis. The relationship was doomed because Cudahy wanted a baby, while Kane preferred a career.

Adam Chandler, played by David Canary, married Erica Kane twice.

"All My Children's" last episode will air in September. "While we are excited about our new shows and the shift in our business, I can't help but recognize how bittersweet the change is," Brian Frons, ABC's daytime department president said in an announcement. "We are taking this bold step to expand our business because viewers are looking for different types of programming these days. They are telling us there is room for informative, authentic and fun shows that are relatable, offer a wide variety of opinions and focus on 'real life' takeaways."

After 41 years of scandal, drama and love, ABC soap opera "All My Children" said goodbye for good on September 23, 2011. The weeks leading up to the show's finale have seen past stars returning to Pine Valley to reprise their roles alongside series fixtures like Susan Lucci, pictured here in a dream sequence from a 1988 episode, for one last hurrah.

"AMC" will debut as a web series produced by online production company Prospect Park on Sept. 26, but some stars, including series fixture Susan Lucci, on the show since 1970, have, so far, declined to star in the online version. Lucci won the Daytime Emmy for the Outstanding Lead Actress in a Drama Series in 1999, after losing 18 times.

Lucci has been honored with many awards over the course of her career, both for acting and her work with children and her community.
