April 24 -- Uma Thurman, Jersey girl? The current face of Lancôme cosmetics is set to star in Hysterical Blindness, an HBO movie about two love-hungry girls from the Garden State.

Hysterical Blindness, which features Juliette Lewis as Thurman's bar-hopping partner in crime, is based on a play by Laura Cahill, Variety reports. Cahill adapted the story for Thurman, who developed it and is executive-producing the project.

The film will go into production next month in New Jersey and will premiere on HBO in 2002. Actor Ben Gazzara is in talks to come aboard the ensemble, which also features Justin Chambers and Gena Rowlands.

Thurman is also attached to star in Quentin Tarantino's still-in-the-works revenge project, Kill Bill.
