February 7 -- This is the sort of baby people would pay to genetically engineer: The father is the world's top-selling salsa singer, and the mother is a former Miss Universe.

But Marc Anthony and wife Dayanara Muciz (née Torres) did it the old-fashioned way, and their boy, Christian Anthony Muciz, was born Monday night in New York.

The 7-pound, 1-ounce, baby arrived at 10:55 p.m. The singer had pulled out of the first Latin Grammy Awards in September when Dayanara experienced complications with the pregnancy.

Anthony, whose real name is Marco Antonio Muciz, and Dayanara married May 10 at the Desert Inn in Las Vegas. The couple now lives in Long Island, N.Y.

Anthony, 32, continues to pursue an acting career, after crossing from the Latin pop world to mainstream success with his 1999 self-titled album. He will star with Salma Hayek in the upcoming movie In the Time of Butterflies.

His wife, 26, has also acted since she reigned as the world's beauty queen in 1993. She played the title role in a Puerto Rican television adaptation of Cinderella in 1999.
