Norris Says 'Hasta La Vista' to Walker
January 9 -- There'll soon be an even greater shortage of B-grade ass-whupping on TV. First it was Hercules, and then it was Xena. Now Walker, Texas Ranger is signing off.
Furry-faced Chuck Norris plans to end his tenure as a tough Texas lawman at the end of this, the show's eighth season.
The CBS show will go out this May with a two-hour finale, Norris told the Los Angeles Times in an interview that ran Monday.
The 60-year-old actor, who's also an executive producer of the show, said he wanted to end the show now and quit "as a winner." Says the steely-eyed action star, "I feel very blessed that we've done eight years."
Norris says he wants to return to making films — watch your back, Sly and Arnold — and that he wants to enjoy more personal time.
A spokesman for CBS called the show an "unsung hero" for buoying its Saturday lineup. The show's estrogen-balancing Saturday companion, Dr. Quinn, Medicine Woman, left the airwaves in 1998.
