Woody Allen's Dad Dies

Jan. 10 -- Martin Konigsberg, the father of Woody Allen,has died. He was 100.

Konigsberg died Monday, Allen Eichhorn, a spokesman for Allen,confirmed today.

On Sunday, the Daily News quoted the filmmaker as saying that afamily doctor had told him his father "could pass a draft physicaltomorrow."

Konigsberg, who turned 100 on Dec. 25, was a former restaurantwaiter and jewelry engraver.

"My father is a classic example of a guy who smoked two packs aday since he was 16," said Allen, who was born Allen StewartKonigsberg. "Eats two eggs for breakfast and meat for dinner sevendays a week, dishes of ice cream before bed at night."

Along with his son, Konigsberg is survived by his wife of nearly70 years, Nettie Konigsberg; his daughter, film producer LettyAronson; eight grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
