September 12 -- Vocal problems have forced teen diva Christina Aguilera to cancel tour dates for the second time in two weeks. Although she soldiered through her duties at the 2000 MTV Video Music Awards on Thursday, Aguilera pulled out of shows in Boston on Friday and Monday in Virginia Beach, Va.

According to a notice at the singer's official Web site posted after the Boston cancellation, "Christina intends to rest her voice further over the next few days and is going to do her best to work out a return trip to the Boston area."

Apparently, the weekend respite wasn't sufficient to get Aguilera's pipes back in working order, however, and Monday night's show was also nixed. "Due to efforts to avoid a lengthy or serious vocal problem, Christina's doctors, concerned that her voice is slightly strained due to her heavy schedule, have asked her to take three days off and rest," explains another post at her site.

Aguilera cancelled a concert at the New York State Fair in Syracuse on Sept. 2, as well as a Sept. 4 spot on The Jerry Lewis MDA Telethon, citing the exact same reasons and medical prognosis.

Christina is still scheduled to appear at the 1st Annual Latin Grammy Awards at the Staples Center in Los Angeles on Wednesday night. Her debut Spanish-language album, Mi Reflejo, is in stores today. Her current tour is set to resume Friday with a show in Camden, N.J.
