Dixie Chicks reveal new 'Gaslighter' release date after album delay
"Gaslighter" was originally set to debut May 1.
The Dixie Chicks have some good news for their fans: "Gaslighter" has a new release date.
After its May 1 drop was scrapped due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the trio recently revealed their comeback album will finally become available July 17.
This comes after they surprised listeners with a track from "Gaslighter," one titled “Julianna Calm Down,” on the album's original release date to make up for the postponement.
“Julianna Calm Down” is a quiet and restrained number highlighting Natalie Maines' dynamic voice, providing a simple yet powerful message to young women to stand their ground in difficult relationships. The song is named after one of Emily Strayer’s daughters and references all the daughters she and her sister and fellow bandmate, Martie Maguire, are moms to.
In addition to Julianna, there are Harper, Katie, Eva and Violet.
In a message to fans at the time, the Dixie Chicks wrote that, while they can’t give fans the full album just yet, they couldn’t let the day pass by without sharing something special with all of them.
“We hope it makes you feel empowered, smile, and strut the f--- around like you’ve got nothing to lose,” they said, referencing the new tune’s lyrics. “We’ll strut through this time together.”
The first single off "Gaslighter," its titular track, was first released March 4.
