Transcript for Television Academy Hall of Fame announce class of 2020 inductees
Thank you, Michael. Good morning, everybody. We're going to begin with the television academy's 25th hall of fame induction ceremony next month and among this year's class, Cicely Tyson, Seth Macfarlane and Bob iger. Oh, wow. Yeah, give it up. The academy chairman saying in a statement it is an honor to welcome this distinguished group of individuals into the hall of fame and to acknowledge their remarkable contributions to our industry citing Tyson's six decades on the screen. Seth, of course, is the creator of "Family guy" and "American guy" and Bob iger, aka our boss being recognized for the tremendous growth he's brought Disney by acquiring just to name a few, Pixar, marvel, lucasfilm, 20th century fox and now creating Disney plus. Amazing accomplishments. We congratulate them. More congratulations in order this morning for Antonio Banderas. Receiving the Palm Springs international star award for his incredible performance in the movie called "Pain and glory." He stars along side Penelope Cruz that's gotten a nearly perfect rating at 97% on rot on tomatoes. The festival is considered a harbinger of which performances we'll be hearing about when the Oscar nominations come out. So keep your ears open for his name. You can catch "Pain and glory" in theaters now. Critics are loving this performance. Check that out. We're all about the movies today because I don't know if you heard we have the cast of a little movie called James bond here. But I digress. We must talk about another actor getting award season buzz. Adam Sandler, everybody. We love him so much here at "Gma" and the comedian is as surprised as you are. He wants to take it all the way to the academy awards. Why not. The actor and comedian made a stop at Howard Stern yesterday to promote "Uncut gems" for which he was nominated for a Gotham award alongside, listen to this list, Adam driver, Joaquin Phoenix, Antonio Banderas, Robert de Niro and Leo Dicaprio and Adam Sandler. Amazing. He plays a gambling addict trying to dig himself out of a massive hole and admits it would be funny if he did land a nomination and did go on to say if he doesn't get one he will pick a movie so bad on purple pay us back. He will pay us back for that. I'm thinking it's no joke. Sandler was given an Oscar boost being named the best actor 2019, Adam Sandler. Out December 19th and -- I watched it last night. He is brilliant in this. I mean, I'm telling you. I'm going to interview him after the show and we'll be showing a little later. Next week. Yeah. So give it up for Mr. Adam Sandler. He's good. The Weeknd is in it. Kevin Garnett is in the movie. Wowment it's a scene, man. Lara, thank you so much.
