Transcript for Matchmaker Paul C. Brunson helps single mom of 2 get back into dating
We turn to our final day and our final series of parent's night out helping single moms and dads get back in the dating game and we set up one parent with professional matchmaker Paul C. Brunson coaching kaywanda before she went out on two dates. We'll talk to them in a moment. Let's see how these dates went. Kaywanda lamb has spent the last two decades raising two boys and pursuing her dreams so dating wasn't a priority until now. My motto is do it anyway and that's what I'm going to do. I'm going to do it anyway. Reporter: Living by her motto we teamed her up with Paul Brunson. You know the most important place to begin is not the heart, it's the -- Mind? Oh, you're already there. You're winning. Reporter: With her heart and mind in the game, kaywanda set off to meet her virtual prince charming. Hi, Cyrus. Hi, beautiful. You look good. Reporter: First up Cyrus, the single dad who said timing never felt right but now instant chemistry. Why in 2021 you are single. I started blogging and I became so passionate about helping other women and I just had tunnel vision. Reporter: Up next, kaywanda meeting Weldon, the 46-year-old father of three. Let's ask the real questions, do we have a hot tub or just a pool? So, we have the hot tub. I'm visiting. Reporter: The two also hitting it off immediately. I think I would like to, you know, meet Weldon in person. Would you like to meet me in person? Let me think about it for a okay, I think I will. I feel like I saw some sparks there. All right, here we go with Paul and kaywanda. Good morning. Thanks for being here. So, kaywanda, we saw your first dates with Cyrus and Weldon and ask Paul if he thinks your moves were a dating do or a dating don't. So let's start, kaywanda, with that question you got from Cyrus. He asked why you're still single. You said, I'm busy, I got my blog, my boys. Was it a do or don't? This was a don't. Don't hate me on this one, kaywanda. I really don't like this question, okay, because it suddenly suggests something could be wrong with you for being single which is crazy, right? So you want to deliver the response based on how that question came. If it came in a witty way you give him a witty response like that, ha, ha, why are you single, right? But never feel like you have to answer this question. Kaywanda, never ever, ever, ever feel like you have to defend your single status for anyone. Yeah, I love that. Okay. You don't have to defend your single status to anyone. Okay, we're going to talk about Weldon. He lives in California. Kaywanda, you're in Texas. You guys dove right in about the possibility of dating long distance. Paul, tell us, is talking about distance on a first date something as serious as long distance on a first date a do or a don't? This was a do. Yay. Good job on this one, kaywanda. Look, long distance relationships are a nonstarter. That's anything that would prevent a healthy relationship from forming so always feel free to start about nonstarters so good job on this. We got a couple more. So with Weldon, you guys seem like you had a lot of mutual interests and talked about those, had deeper conversations and we saw with Cyrus seems like it got a little flirty there. Talk about these. Diving into first topic -- first date topic, serious conversations or do you want to keep it light and kind of flirty, do or don't? This was a don't. All right, so it was definitely flirty which I like but we think, kaywanda, that a deep conversation means that you're getting deeper connection on the first date but that's a myth, right? Great relationships are formed over time with great action so on a first date you want to check out two thing, one, physically are you into them, and then, two, did they listen to me? If you don't have either of those, there's no need for a second date but if you have both, that's chemistry and the next date is on and popping. Kaywanda, tell white house is the future got in store? It seems like you were close to setting up dates with both. Where do things stand? Well, I have a date tonight with Cyrus and Weldon just might see me for spring break so, thanks, Paul. This is good news. All right. Yes. Thank you. Have a great time on those dates. Guy, thank you so much.
