New Super Mario Bros. and Truff hot sauce collab
The truffle hot sauce brand has new packaging for the Super Mario Bros. movie.
Mushrooms have a recurring role in the Super Mario kingdom and Truff is bringing the umami character to life in tandem with the upcoming animated film.
Truff, the brand behind elevated pantry staples, announced a partnership with Nintendo, Illumination and Universal Pictures for the new animated comedy adventure, "The Super Mario Bros. Movie," which will be released on April 5.
In just one day since Truff first made the announcement on Instagram, the @sauce post garnered over 22,000 views -- and, according to the company, an online waitlist with over 15,000 signups.
Truff co-founder and co-CEO Nick Ajluni told "Good Morning America" that watching the partnership unfold "has left us in complete awe."
"Our original intent behind the collaboration was to make a meaningful and nostalgic connection between TRUFF and audiences around the world," he continued. "The passionate fandom behind the film has proved to be unparalleled with a range of audiences -- young to old -- expressing excitement over the 'The Super Mario Bros. Movie' Collectible Pack by TRUFF."
Described as "a flavor-forward ode to Mushroom Kingdom," the truffle-infused condiment has been "reimagined with the film's heroes."
The movie-inspired collectible pack features three of Truff's bestselling truffle-infused hot sauces in special 6-ounce bottles with custom labels, colorful geometric caps and an exclusive Mushroom Kingdom VIP gift box.
Toad is pictured on the Truff Original Hot Sauce, Mario is displayed on the Truff Hotter Hot Sauce, and Princess Peach is featured on the Truff White Truffle Hot Sauce.
Nick Guillen, co-founder and co-CEO of Truff, said this all began thanks to the company's signature star ingredient, the black winter truffle, which many in the culinary world consider the crown jewel of mushrooms.
"When we first glimpsed the spectacular Mushroom Kingdom and the adorable and cheerful character Toad featured in 'The Super Mario Bros. Movie,' we were instantly inspired," he said. "We had clearly found another brand who celebrates mushrooms as much as we do."
The exclusive collectible box will go on sale the same day the film opens in theaters -- April 5 -- at 10 a.m. PST, 1 p.m. EST, and will be available to purchase online for $69.99.
Fans can also join the waitlist early to receive a notification as soon as it goes live. As an "ultra-limited release" these products will only be available while supplies last.
