Transcript for ‘Astronaut Abby’ wants to be 1st to set foot on Mars
We are back and ready to launch to success on the up lifting message from the young astronaut determined to be the first to step foot on March. I was inspired to write dream big because after chasing my own big dream to become an astronaut, I've had great opportunities. I've learned firsthand what it takes to accomplish a dream. I wanted to make sure what I've been lucky to learn are accessible to other young people. I realized I wanted to be an astronaut when I was 5 years I went to Wesley college and during my time in college I was fortunate to be able to do an internship at the nasa Kennedy space center. I spent my day working as a scientific researcher at Harvard where I work in a molecular biology lab trying to discover things about the human genome. The Mars generation is a nonprofit I co-founded that works to excite the next generation in S.T.E.M. S.T.E.M. Is tied into everything we do in life and our society wouldn't be able to function properly without S.T.E.M. At the Mars generation we tried to create content accessible and approachable for everyone. Covid has affected my life and my journey towards my dream. This is such an opportune time for this message because there are a lot of young people looking for guidance and hope and trying to take that next step. Dream big has a lot of great answers in it. One of my favorite pieces of advice and my go-to for anybody is to expect failure. If we don't expect and prepare for those failures, they'll knock us down and we won't get we won't have the skills we need to view failure not as a bad thing, but as a learning opportunity to help us reach our goals. Every time we fail we learn I love that. I still want to be an astronaut too. Really? Yeah. You got time. Do I? No, you don't. I was trying to be helpful.
