We begin with the push by the Biden administration to ramp up vaccine supply. President Biden announcing 200 million more doses of the vaccine will be available for Americans to vaccinate 300 million by the end of the summer. The plan also is launching a supply forecast to help states and local officials better strategize distribution. President Biden emphasized wearing a mask remains the best defense against contracting the virus. On capitol hill, Republican senators are signaling opposition to former president trump's upcoming impeachment trial. Just five Republicans joined Democrats in killing senator Rand Paul's effort to dismiss that trial as unconstitutional. At least 17 senate Republican votes are needed to convict the former president on charges of inciting the capitol insurrection on January 6th. Just after being sworn in to preside over those impeachment proceedings, senator Patrick Leahy was hospitalized. He's now back at home again and said to be feeling better. He is expected to return to capitol hill soon. The impeachment trial is slated to start in two weeks. Much of the country's slammed by a trio of dangerous storm, slick conditions in the northeast, wicked weather causing wrecks in Colorado and Arizona. Six states on alert for the biggest storm in years, hitting the west. 5,000 forced to evacuate from Santa Cruz with rising concerns about mudslides. Nearly a foot of rain is expected in that area. In Alabama cleanup continues after the deadly attorney that swept through there. And finally, we're going from mardi gras to yardi gras, as covid-19 turns a New Orleans tradition upside down with parades and floats canceled, many homeowners are taking it upon themselves to do things up right at homes. Just decorating their own homes. You can't cancel mardi gras entirely, just throw some beads at your neighbors. I like that yardi gras. You like that? No. The nolo spirit perseveres. Are we required to do a disclaimer? Do not throw beads at your neighbors. Just on the side of your neighbors. Thank you, erielle.
