Feb. 16, 2006 — -- Police are investigating an Internet "fight club" at one middle school in New Jersey after parents discovered the video online.

Four boys, ages 12 and 13, were arrested and charged with disorderly conduct after a parent found grainy Internet video of junior high school boys punching each other as a crowd of fellow students urged them on.

Police believe the motive behind the videos is simply to gain attention.

"I believe they were showing off actually," said Lumberton police Chief Marc Sano. "Maybe this was their 15 minutes of fame that they wanted to be on the Internet."

Experts say that it's a violent trend based on the 1999 movie "Fight Club," and that the New Jersey boys are representative of a generation that doesn't understand the power of the Internet.

"A lot of teens have no idea that what they're posting may have ramifications later on in life," said Parry Aftab of WiredSafety.org. "If it's on the Internet for one second, it's on the Internet forever."
