Emeril's Favorite Burger Joints in the Country

Emeril takes his search for the best burger on the road.

Aug. 17, 2007 — -- Burgers made at home may be great, but nothing beats a burger joint. Emeril has scoured the country for the best recipes, and now it's time for him to share his favorite restaurant burgers.

From the Big Apple to the Lone Star State, this land is your land, this land is my land, this land is hamburger country. It's the classic all-American meal: a burger and French fries.

Jimbo's Hamburger Palace

991 First Avenue

New York, NY 10022

(212) 355-6120

Emeril knows the butcher, Leonard, a telltale sign the burgers have to be good! For just $2.75 you can get all the fixings: lettuce, tomato, ketchup and onion, at several locations in New York. If you want dessert, try a milkshake or egg cream -- they've got those, too! Emeril said, "It's the real deal, right here at Jimbo's!"

J-Bar (at the Hotel Jerome)

330 East Main Street

Aspen, CO 81611

(970) 920-1000

(212) 355-6120

J-Bar, an authentic saloon and an Aspen favorite since 1889, is a watering hole famous for its burger! Served on an egg bun with a little lettuce -- simple and delectable! Be sure to wash that burger down with an "Aspen Crud," the signature drink born when J-Bar was converted to a soda fountain during Prohibition. It's a milkshake with spice -- bourbon to be exact!

Soup Burg

1095 Lexington Avenue

New York, NY 10021

(212) 744-1233

Burgers galore, this is an NYC classic. Prize Angus beef, no fillers, no spices, no additives -- just the best meat on a toasted bun. But if you're a bit more adventurous, Soup Burg boasts more than two dozen kinds of burgers, including the "Greek Burger" with melted feta, the pizza burger or the "Smother Burger" for the super hungry. All the burgers are available two ways: regular, with just pickles, or deluxe, with pickles, lettuce, tomato and French fries.

39 Degree Lounge, Sky Hotel

709 East Durant Avenue

Aspen, CO 81611

(970) 925-6760

Is there such thing as a posh hamburger? If so, it lives at the 39 Degree Lounge in Aspen, Colo. Ask the Aspen locals where the best burger in town is, and a lot of them answer with the 'Lounge.' Grab a swanky cocktail, add lettuce, tomato, onion, an old-fashioned bun, and of course, a big juicy burger: now that's a recipe for a good time!

Hut's Hamburgers

807 West 6th Street

Austin, TX 78703

(512) 472-0693

Order them by number or order them by name. Hut's boasts a menu of 20 different burgers. Be sure to try No. 7, better known as "Tuby's Tickler," complete with chili, jalapenos and grated cheese. Or if you've got a sweet tooth: No. 14, the "Beachboy's Favorite," comes with pineapple, Swiss cheese, mayo, lettuce and bell peppers.

305 South Mill Street

Aspen, CO 81611

(970) 925-6019

Beef plays second fiddle to the Bison Burger at D19 in Aspen. It comes with caramelized onions, apple smoked bacon, and a seasoned slice of tomato, a little bit of arugula, and truffle fries. But if you're more traditional, there's a beef burger too: caramelized onions, melted cheddar cheese, apple smoked bacon, tomato and parsley French fries.
