July 30, 2004 -- Usher rocked New York City's Bryant Park with a live concert as part of "Good Morning America's" summer concert series.

Usher performed "Burn" and "Yeah!" off his new album Confessions. He also performed his hit "You Make Me Wanna" off his hit 1997 album "My Way."

Confessions is Usher's fourth album. The successful album debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 and Top R&B/Hip-Hop Album charts. The 25-year-old performer says he tries to get better with each project.

"With every album, I try to better myself. I'm a perfectionist and with the success of my last record, I wasn't sure about where my growth should be as a performer, as a vocalist. I always felt like I held something back on my albums on every album, I was playing a role. This time, I decided to shake my fears and allow my personality to come through," Usher said on his official Web site, usherworld.com.

Usher's successful career has always been managed by his mother. The R&B star says it's been a great partnership.

"We never argue. We're a great team. How unlikely would that be? No. Of course we argue and have differences, but that's what makes it all work," Usher said on Good Morning America.

Usher Raymond was born in Chattanooga, Tenn., where he spent his early years honing his musical talents with the St. Elmo's Missionary Baptist Church choir, where his mother serverd as choir director.

Usher and his mother/manager Jonnetta Patton moved to Atlanta when he was 13 years old. When an A&R rep approached the young teen after spotting him in a local Star Search competition, Usher auditioned for LaFace Records. After Usher was signed by LaFace, Sean "P. Diddy" Combs was asked to help produce Usher's self-titled debut, which was released less than a year later.

Usher has enjoyed great success in just a few short years. He's managed to tour around the world, packing huge arenas. The R&B star has even co-written several songs on his latest CD.

Usher is up for five nominations for two different videos, "Yeah!" and "Burn" in this year's MTV Video Music Awards, where he also be performing August 29.
