Feb. 28, 2010— -- This week's edition of Your Week in Three Words is set to the music of Bad Veins and their song "Gold and Warm," from their self-titled debut album.

When Benjamin Davis and Sebastien Schultz formed Bad Veins in Cincinnati in 2006, they never thought after just a year of playing together they'd be touted as a "breakout act" at the influential CMJ Music Festival in New York.

Davis sings lead vocals, and plays guitar and keyboard, while Shultz backs him on the drums.

During their live shows, the band has a third unofficial member, an antique reel-to-reel player they have lovingly named Irene. The player handles 50 to 70 extra tracks for their live shows, so they can recreate all the orchestrations from their album.

Bad Veins doesn't mind that its music can't easily fit into a specific genre. The members firmly believe that anyone can find something in their music to latch onto.

If it all ends tomorrow, Davis and Shultz believe they've already accomplished more than they ever imagined.

"If we can spend this next year on the road and see the world by playing the music we want to play, then we've already succeeded," said Shultz.

Bad Veins is currently touring the U.S. with the band We Were Promised Jetpacks.
