Homeade Frosting for 4th of July Cake Pops
Looking for a 4th of July dessert to impress? Guests of all ages will love this patriotic confetti cake pop recipe from Kris Galicia Brown, author of "Pop Art: Decorating and Shaping Custom Cake Pops." See recipe below for her cream cheese buttercream frosting to make the cake pops.
Using a hand mixer, beat butter and cream cheese in a medium-sized bowl at medium speed until combined and creamy. Add powdered sugar ½ cup at a time on low speed until combined. Beat at medium speed for 1 minute.
This recipe makes 1½ cups.
Refrigerate unused buttercream in an airtight container for up to 3 days, or freeze in ¼ cup or ½ cup portions wrapped in two layers of plastic wrap and sealed in a small labeled and dated freezer bag.
If freezing, thaw in the refrigerator prior to use.
