N E W   Y O R K, Feb. 20 -- As Charlie was whisked away in his limo, feeling like he'd been "hit by a bus," the Bachelorette told Ryan he was "the one" during the final episode of the TV reality series.

After months of speculation that Charlie Maher would receive Trista Rehn's final rose, her surprising decision is likely to go down as one of the greatest upsets in reality TV history.

"This day is a day I dreamed about my entire life," Trista told Ryan Sutter, 27, of Vail, Colo., during Wednesday's final episode.

"I see smiles and laughter, I see babies and grandbabies, I seecomfort and safety. I see me in a white dress and I see it withyou," she said.

After listening to her speech, Sutter gave Rehn a kiss, dropped to his knee and asked the woman he'd known for six weeks to marry him. She said yes.

A Wedding Date?

Rehn, who is now sporting Sutter's ring in public, told ABCNEWS' Good Morning America that he was ready to walk down the aisle right away. Rehn, who lives in California, says they're willing to do what it takes to make their relationship work.

"We're long distance right now, but we're open to possibilities that are out there," Rehn said. "I'll move to him, he'll move to me. We're both flexible."

Rehn, 30, wouldn't say whether or not she and Sutter set a wedding date, saying only that everyone would have to watch Thurday night's ABC special during which such details might be revealed.

The sensitive firefighter won Rehn's heart with a series of his own love poems and a stuffed whale he bought for her during one of their dates. And when he asked Rehn's father for his daughter's hand in marriage, it really impressed Rehn, who said she knew he was "the one" when they were on a romantic date in Vail, Colo.

Both Maher and Sutter picked up classic engagement rings on Rehn's decision day, but as Sutter slid his ring on Rehn's finger, Maher stared at the ring he picked for Rehn and tried to figure out what went wrong.

Broken-Hearted Bachelor

"Wow. This is ridiculous what just happened," Maher said after getting the bad news from Rehn. "There's no one that's going be able to have guessed this, at least from what I know, what I went through," he said.
