We turn to that Phoenix family who allegedly made crime a family business. Shoplifting thousands of dollars of merchandise. Two of them were caught on camera pepper spraying a security guard after allegedly stealing from that mall. ABC's nick watt with the story. Reporter: The cops Tay terry vargas is stuffing stolen goods into a bag. She is picked up again hurrying out of the mall in Arizona with her alleged accomplice/brother Mario. A security guard is in relatively hot pursuit. Then watch Phoenix police say Mario blasts him with pepper spray. Cops say they've never seen anything like the gang they've dubbed the family affair. Never a family and especially at this magnitude. Reporter: Behind that tree the guard is again trying to grab the brother and sister suspects, beaten back by another cloud of spray. Vargas and vargas make it to the suspected getaway car. Their gang has allegedly stolen more than $15,000 worth of merchandise since November from the likes of Victoria's secret and Dillard's. Their regular M.O., cops say, one steals while another distracts clerks and guards. They were relatively successful until we caught them. Reporter: After two months on their tails cops just swooped on the vargas residence. Arresting matriarch Elizabeth, daughters terry and Lisette, son Mario and son-in-law Jose. And allegedly finding this stash of stolen goods. They were trading these retail items for drugs but also having yard sales. It wasn't like fancy things, just Normal clothing and furniture. Reporter: Mario vargas faces an aggravated robbery charge for this pepper spray incident and the whole family is up on a raft of other charge, theft, fraud and trafficking in stolen property. For "Good morning America," nick watt, ABC news, Los Angeles.
