That is later. The prominent doctor and father of eight arrested for aljedly murdering his wife. He makes his first court appearance this morning. Police say his wife's 2007 run to -- drowning death was no accident. Reporter: Good morning, robin. THIS MORNING, martin McNeill is scheduled to be arraigned for murder much to his daughters' relief. They say they have been living in fear for their lives for the last month since he was released from prison on check fraud. A 911 call from a seemingly desperate husband just discovering his wife's lifeless body this their bathtub. A tragic accident he said. Did you get her out of the water? I can't. I couldn't get the water out. Reporter: Now, five years later, he's about to stand trial for first degree murder, accused of killing his wife, michelle in 2007. From the day their mother died until the moment of their father's arrest on friday, they've been leading the charge against the man they once called dad. The father I loved never existed. Reporter: It's a twisted family tale that dpan when this doctor and father of seven turned 50. His daughters say he became obsessed with his looks, starting to tan and exercise obsessively. Their mother began to suspect an affair. en McNeil began to focus on his 50-year-old wife's looks. He had a plan to murder my mother. This was part of his plan. Reporter: While caring for her mother post surgery, she heard a bomb shell. She said alexis, if anything happens to me, make sure it wasn't your father. A couple of days later, she was dead. Reporter: An initial autopsy report said she died of natural causes. Authorities now believe she was drugged and drowned by her husband. My waif's fallen in the bathtub. Is she conscious? She's not. Reporter: He had just arrived after picking up his then 6-year-old daughter from school. In a series of screaming 911 calls, he hung up on the operator three times in five minutes. Dug that time, prosecutors say he removed his wife's papts, lied to the dispatcher about performing cpr and gave the wrong address to his resident, further delaying the responders. Prosecutors believe he gave his wife a dangerous combination of drugs. She was concerned that the autopsy be done right away, because he was very concerned. That he would be suspected of murder. Reporter: If a statement to ABC NEWS, McNEIL'S LAWYER Continues to deny that he killed his wife and is confident the truth will set him free. We know he's guilty. We know he'll harm again if let out. He'll come after us. . Reporter: Mcneil's youngest daughter is now 11 years old. She'll likely have to testify. IF FOUND GUILTY, McNEIL COULD Get a life sentence or perhaps the death penalty if the d.A. Seeks it.
