Transcript for New Evidence in Dylann Roof Murder Trial
Thank you, ginger. The latest on the dylann roof trial coming off a chilling day where the jury saw evidence where he killed nine African-Americans had plans to target more black churches and Steve osunsami is outside the courtroom. Good morning, Steve. Reporter: Good morning to you, George. The victims' families have been filling the courtroom and there have been awkward moments with dylann roof and one of his lawyers laughing during breaks and there's nothing funny here at all. This morning, we expect to hear from police seen here arresting dylann roof in North Carolina. After police say he ran from the murder scene at this historic black church in Charleston. From his car, police say they pulled a confederate flag and this 45 caliber Glock under a pillow in the backseat and burned American flag in the trunk. They also found a list of other black churches in the Charleston area. In his confession roof told the FBI he considered other targets. I thought about going to like a black festival or something like that but they got security and stuff and you got that wait for the day. Reporter: His video confession played in court is cold-blooded. Why did you have to do it? Well, I had to do it because somebody had to do something because black people are killing white people every day. Reporter: He killed those nine at a bible study because he's a white nastist who doesn't believe that black lives matter at all. Is that why you chose that church. Oh, yes. Because you were looking for African-Americans? Right. I wasn't going to go to another church, you know, because there could have been white people there. Reporter: Jurors are learning he should have never been able to buy the gun. Video show him going and coming from a gun store a whole two months before the killings, a background check should have denied him the firearm because of a previous arrest for drug possession. The government got back to that gun store owner by the end of June, a full two weeks after the killings, robin. Disturbing to hear that, Steve, thank you.
