Transcript for The Meghan Markle effect on fashion
Now the Meghan Markle effect. Prince Harry's American girlfriend has taken center stage driving up sales and lama Hasan has a closer look. ??? Reporter: When she's not working the red carpet, or power dressing her way through the show "Suits." Allow me to introduce the Bainbridge briefs. Reporter: Meghan Markle is on this side of the pond in more casual clothes. And it seems that hanging out with Harry is having an effect on her style. Meghan has adopted a very British style of dressing when she's over here. She's not as sexy as her character but has a real twist to it. Not a classic straightforward British posh girl the way she dresses. She's got a little edge to it which is very exciting. Reporter: Meghan was recently snappeout and about in London teeming an oversize beanie with a classic Barbour jacket and hunter boots given the royal seal of approval from princess Diana to the duchess of Cambridge and the queen. Choosing to carry a mulberry bag and wearing burberry platforms on a date night with her prince and just like a duchess what she wears is selling out. Call it the Meghan Markle effect. It's all pointing in the direction of an engagement. This could be it this year. And apparently he wants to take Meghan as his official guest to pippa's wedding. No pressure, Meghan and Harry. No pressure at all. For "Good morning America," lama Hasan, ABC news, London. She really does have great style and we're going to talk about it with "Good housekeeping" style director Lori bergamotto. Great to see you. Thank you for having me. I love her style. I do too. A little different than Kate's although she is being compared. The Meghan Markle effect is a real thing, Lara. So we are seeing her increase sales and traffic to different sites. This mulberry bag which is a British heritage bag, she carried -- the base water and it immediately flew off the chefs. Beautiful bag. Expensive bag. But because people love her and she's dating prince Harry they're clamoring to know everything about her and want to get a little piece of her, you know. So same thing that happened. So you -- "Good housekeeping" actually interviewed Meghan before she started dating. You probably wouldn't have gotten this interview. But you got a great exclusive. We have a lot of pull. You do and it's an awesome magazine but got her to open up. How have you seen her fashion change in the year since she started dating prince Harry. We shot her three months before it became public and we don't know what was going on. But what we saw in her scale was this really effortless, she's from California. California cool girl style and what we're seeing kind of now is that she's working in more refined pieces. She's losing a little bit of that easy breeziness and getting a little more maybe some would say regal, a little more royal like which brings us to the point you brought up earlier, is she like Kate Middleton and my answer would be no. There's only one Kate Middleton but I think there's room enough for both in they have different styles. Kate is very English and I like this easy breezy L.A. Meets London. It's like this English rose versus this L.A., New York a little bit and then now -- With a dash of London. The great thing about both they like to mix high and low. Talk about these hunter boots are affordable. She was -- Meghan was shot in a Barbour jacket which is pretty accessible. We found this one for $89. It's under $100. A great style and people just love her. She's an actress, dating prince Harry and has a lifestyle blog called the tig and others are starting blogs about her style. Her effect will only be felt more. If they get engaged? I'm here for it. Are you here for it. I'm here for it. Good. Happy to go to London and
