Big weather news overnight. Hail storms and at least one tornado. Five states in the midwest took a beating last night. This large and nasty storm system is moving east with more states bracing for wild weather today. Ginger zee all over this story. Getting ready for her next jump from outer space. Before that, the forecast. We have to get right into it. This is what happened yesterday. October is no stranger to severe weather. 35 tornadoes on average in october in the u.S. One likely but three reported between college station and austin. That is damaging wind and hail there in the blue and yellow dots. This is from just along the texas state line in southern and central oklahoma. Blinding rain. Plenty of lightning. The winds up to 80 miles per hour that caused quite a bit of damage. We saw hail. One inch to larger. Quarter-sized in some places. A big thanks to ktxs for sending those photos. Today, we have to warn those folks who are in the crosshairs.
