Transcript for Sheriff's Deputy Helps Save 15-Month-Old Baby's Life
I want to bring the train back on the tracks to a story caught on camera. A Tampa woman is grateful after a hero who happened to be there saved her son in a serious case of the right place at the right time. My mind went blank, my body shut down, I didn't know what to do at the moment. It was practically faith the day Shakira ran her son into this office. He had stopped breathing. At that moment I was in panic mode. Captured on surveillance video watch as deputy Steve Donaldson springs into action administering cpr. The overwhelming responsibility of this job is never understood until you have a baby like Cory in your arms and he's not breathing. By the time paramedics arrived Cory was breathing again all thanks to Dan who happened to be filling in for another officer that day. I looked at the video and I said thank god for deputy Donaldson because without him, my baby wouldn't be here. Cory and his mom recently reunited with the deputy and this time it was all smiles as Donaldson was awarded the title of every day hero in a ceremony just outside the spot where he saved that little boy's life. I don't want to buy anything for Christmas, he is my Christmas. At love o'great coincidences here and not the first time something like this happened. The day before Cory had a seizure in a parking lot and a woman inside happened to have a child who also suffers from seizures. So she stayed with them until the paramedics came. The doctors say this happened because of a fever. Happy to report Cory is doing just fine. She paid it forward almost. She had no idea it was going to happen twice in a row. Two people to thank. What a great story. Coming up on "Gma" this Sunday
