-- Question: What is interpersonal therapy (IPT), and how is it used for the treatment of anxiety disorders?
Answer: There are many types of therapy, and interpersonal therapy is really designed to help clients and patients interact in a healthier way with family and friends. And so they are actually seen in that state of being with people that are important in their lives. This is particularly used to treat people in mourning or grief, with interpersonal problems, with family relations issues. And it helps over a period of time. This is usually about three to four months that you are gradually developing skills and tools to help process and work through issues with the important people in your life.
