Aug. 24, 2009— -- Question: Can I wear contact lenses that have been sitting in solution for many months?

Answer: I really wouldn't recommend wearing lenses that have been sitting in a solution for several months. The disinfecting solutions lose their ability to disinfect after a certain number of days or weeks. Really, the best thing to do at that point if the lens has been in a solution for a few months is either to start with a fresh pair of lenses or, if that's not possible, at least to re-disinfect them with new disinfecting solution. But really, those disinfecting solutions are meant to only be used for a few days at most.
