— -- Question Does the size of my breasts affect my risk of getting breast cancer?

Answer:Women come to us all the time asking us whether or not their breast size has anything to do with their increased risk for the development of breast cancer. And to date the scientific knowledge has not identified increased breast size as a risk factor.

That being said, however, two important factors have been identified and one is obesity and the other one is breast density. And we can tell whether or not your breasts are dense by your mammograms.

If you're watching this because you've had breast enhancement either by silicone or saline implants, it's important to remember that you are not at increased risk for the development of breast cancer. It's also important to remember that you should continue to have regular exams by your physician as well as following the American Cancer Society guidelines for mammography.
