Jan. 01, 2009 -- Question: What recommendations would you make to newly diagnosed prostate cancer patients?

Answer: Prostate cancer is a common disease however, it is imperative that the patient would go to a center that handles a large volume of patients with prostate cancer. Those centers are likely to have experts that have dedicated their time and lives to treat patients and to understand the natural history of prostate cancer.

In addition, the patient should educate himself about the therapeutic options by reading about the disease as well as the treatments. And most important, is to be a participant with your physician about what type of treatment will be most ideal for you.
