David Chen, M.D., Consultant for the ABC News OnCall+ Prostate Cancer Center

April 2, 2009 -- Dr. David Chen is an attending surgeon in the department of surgical oncology, section of urologic oncology at Fox Chase Cancer Center. He is also an assistant professor in the department of urology at Temple University School of Medicine, both in Philadelphia, Penn.

Dr. Chen is program director of the FCCC Urologic Oncology Fellowship Program and is an expert in the use of minimally invasive and robotic surgical approaches in treatment of genitourinary system cancers. Prior to joining Fox Chase, he completed his urologic surgery training and urologic oncology fellowship at the New York-Presbyterian Hospital/Weill Cornell Medical Center in New York, N.Y. He received his medical degree in 1997 from Cornell University Medical College.

Dr. Chen is the recipient of a number of awards, including the Alan von Kreuter Cancer Research Prize from Cornell University Medical College, and was previously selected as a Howard Hughes Medical Institute-National Institutes of Health Research Scholar.

Dr. Chen is a member of the Society of Urologic Oncology, a member of the Eastern Cooperative Oncology Group (ECOG), a fellow of the American College of Surgeons, and he currently serves as secretary of the Philadelphia Urological Society.
