Can I Have A Prostatectomy After Cryosurgery?

Dr. David Levy answers the question: 'Prostatectomy After Cryosurgery?'

March 16, 2009 -- Question: Can I have a prostatectomy after cryosurgery?

Answer: Similar to following radiation therapy if the radiation fails, surgical removal of the prostate is possible. It is very difficult. Following cryosurgery, if the treatment fails, a patient could have a second cryosurgery performed, or they could have the prostate removed. But it will be much more difficult -- the same as after radiation treatment.
