— -- Question: What Is Prolotherapy And When Is It Used To Relieve Pain?

Answer: Prolotherapy is a therapy that's used primarily for patients that go and sustain either arthritis or sports injuries.

Prolotherapy essentially involves injection of a stimulating solution, such as a sugar-based solution, into the tendon or ligaments that surround your bone or muscles. What essentially ends of up happening is that it causes an inflammatory response, and from that inflammatory response, the tendon or the ligament actually strengthens itself, and helps to go and alleviate and recover the patient from the pain.
