April 2, 2009 -- Question: My boyfriend and I have known each other for about two years and have only dated for two months. He recently proposed to me and I'm not sure what to say, because I still have feelings for my ex. What should I do?

Answer: The simple answer is be patient. And ask your boyfriend to be patient. First of all, even if there was no ex involved, two months is certainly not long enough to know whether this relationship can last long-term. So, that's a little bit of a sudden push. But secondly, we don't really know anything about how ex your ex is -- since you've only been dating two months. Have you broken up with this ex three months ago or three years ago? We really don't know the answer to that.

So you need to ask yourself: How resolved you are over the last relationship and why you're in such a hurry, or your boyfriend is in such a hurry to make a formal commitment two months into the current relationship?
