— -- A year after Stuart Scott succumbed to cancer at 49, his daughters are remembering him with a heartfelt tribute.

In a video released by Taelor and Sydni Scott, the sisters reminisced about what their dad meant to them. The clip starts off with Stuart Scott's heartfelt speech dedicated to his daughters at the 2014 ESPYs, where he won the Jimmy V Award for Perseverance.

"You two are my heartbeat," Scott said in the speech. "I am standing on this stage here tonight because of you."

The girls then talk about what they have been through since losing their father to cancer in January 2015.

"The hardest part of losing my dad is times when I either thought I saw him somewhere and when there are things I want to tell him," Sydni Scott said in the video.

The younger sister, Sydni, said she was reading her father's biography but not eager to reach the end.

"It was this sort of unspoken thing when I finish the book, I know it'll be the last thing he'll ever say to me," she said.

Taelor Scott recalled being in the hospital with her father as she practiced taking photographs.

"The image he had always put out is one of strength," she said showing glimpses of her dad looking more frail in pictures. "There is a different kind of value and still strength in vulnerability."

The girls posted the video in conjunction with the Dear World website, which aims to have people share meaningful messages with others. In an accompanying letter, the girls addressed their dad to reflect on the past year.

"From you Dad, we’ve learned to reach for the fight we possess inside and apply it with passion to our lives," the girls said in the letter. "It was through your vulnerability, that you taught us the real value of strength in never giving up."
