Watch Florida Man Trapped in Gym After Closing Time

— -- A Florida man filmed his efforts to escape a gym after he was locked in.
Nick Clayton posted the short video showing that he was stuck in an LA Fitness gym in Clearwater, Florida, after closing time this weekend.
"I didn't realize this crazy place closed at five o'clock," Clayton said in the video. "I have literally no idea what to do; this is ridiculous."
Clayton’s headphones prevented him from hearing the announcements that the gym was closing, he told ABC News today. He said he was shocked to leave the bathroom and find a darkened gym with no one around and thought the staff would have checked the sauna, where he was at closing time, before leaving.
"What if someone had had a life-threatening emergency in there and was left in there over night?" he said.
LA Fitness did not immediately respond to a request for comment.
The company declined to comment to ABC Tampa Bay affiliate WFTS about Clayton, only pointing out the gym did close at 5 p.m. Saturday.
After realizing he was stuck inside, Clayton, 28, called his mom but found her less than helpful.
"I’m telling you laughter that evoked tears is all I got," he said. "She was not helpful at all. I hung up on her."
Clayton then called another LA Fitness that helped him leave the gym after about 30 minutes. But, before leaving, he took the video documenting his time in the gym and posted it on Facebook and later YouTube.
Clayton said he thought it would be a funny video for his friends, but then the 46-second clip quickly went viral with more than 370,000 views on YouTube.
"Ridiculous, ridiculous," Clayton said of what he thinks of hundreds of thousands of views. "I threw this up there expecting to get a laugh. ... My head is about ready to spin off my shoulders."
