— -- French President Francois Hollande’s personal hairdresser makes nearly $11,000 per month, a French newspaper reported on Monday.

Le Canard Enchaine published the stylist’s employment contract, identifying him only as “Olivier B.,” according to the Agence France Presse news agency (AFP).

A government spokesman, Stephane Le Foll, confirmed the €9,895 per month salary, adding "Everyone has their hair done, don't they?” according to the French news agency.

It also said that the newspaper’s report claimed that the hairdresser was given a “housing allowance,” as well as “family benefits,” and travels with the president on most of his foreign trips. The contract reportedly demands that the stylist "maintain absolute secrecy about his work and any information he may have gathered both during and after his contract."

Seizing on the story as an opportunity for humor, many people took to Twitter using the hashtag #CoiffeurGate to lampoon the unpopular French president with edited photos and other memes.

According to AFP, the French president himself makes €14,900 per month, or just over $16,500 per month by current exchange rates.

The next presidential election in France is scheduled for April and May of 2017.
