Conspirator Guy Fawkes attempts to plant gunpowder in the cellar of the Palace of Westminster, Nov. 5, 1605. Fawkes became involved with a group of English Catholics who planned to assassinate the Protestant King James. The plan was to blow up the House of Lords during the State Opening of England's Parliament event.

The arrest of Guy Fawkes. An anonymous letter sent to William Parker revealed the plot to the authorities. The king ordered a search of the House of Lords; Fawkes was discovered guarding 36 barrels of gunpowder.

Conspirator Guy Fawkes starts to climb a ladder to the gallows on the day of his execution. The hangman waits at the top of the ladder with a noose in his hand and a masked executioner stands with an axe in his hand at the bottom of the gallows. As he climbed the ladder to the noose, Fawkes managed to jump from the scaffolding, breaking his neck in the fall and died instantly.

Hugo Weaving portrays V in the 2006 action thriller ?V for Vendetta.? The movie, based on a comic book series written by Alan Moore and illustrated by David Lloyd, popularized a stylized Guy Fawkes mask. In the movie, V is a freedom fighter attempting to start a revolution against the fascist regime.
