— -- One woman's post about the "secret" of her happy marriage is striking a chord with thousands.

"The secret to a long lasting marriage is there is no secret at all," Nikki Pennington wrote in a Facebook past that's now been shared more than 120,000 times.

Pennington and her husband Jerred have been married for 11 years and live in Florida with their three sons, Dylan, Cohen and Neil.

She told ABC News that she thinks the post is resonating with so many because of its honesty.

"So many of us don't want to talk about both the good times and bad in our marriages because we feel like, if we tell people there are hard times, then we are failing or that our marriage isn't as good as someone else's," Pennington said. "In reality, we all go through difficult times in life from jobs, friendships to family issues so why would a marriage be any different?"

The post reads in part:

"It's a get up and try again over and over every damn day.

It's about being deep in the trenches of so many obstacles that life could throw you and getting to look over and know that you aren't alone and that your best friend is walking it with you.

Just try every single day, in the trenches and on top of the mountains don't ever stop. Because stopping, that's one thing that isn't a secret, it will make you fail."

"The response has been absolutely amazing," Pennington said, who said her husband is also happy about it. "Jerred is really honored and he is hopeful, like I am, that it will give other couples out there a real-life perspective instead of all those unrealistic expectations they are given when they first get married."

She also wants the post to give hope to young couples who may have trepidation about marriage.

"It won't be easy all the time," she said, "but you can make it if you just keep trying."
