Mysterious wedding dress found on Bridle Road, police searching for owner
The size 4 dress from David’s Bridal is worth about $600 dollars.
— -- Police are looking for a potential runaway bride in Billerica, Massachusetts.
A resident found a mysterious wedding gown on the side of a busy road around 6:45 p.m. on Wednesday. There was no hanger or garment bag with the dress.
"I thought, 'Oh my God. There’s a white dress out there,'" the woman who found the gown, Regina Goodwin, told ABC affiliate WCVB. "I ran ou, and there were no cars around at all."
The size 4 dress is from David's Bridal, which told police the gown's style is three years old and worth $600 dollars.
The kicker though: The dress happened to be found on Bridle Road.
"This is the first time this type of thing has happened," Deputy Chief Roy Frost told ABC News. "We get a lot of lost and found items but nothing like this. The dress has some value to it."
Frost said they received a call Thursday night from a Roslindale resident who thought the dress was hers and "had a pretty elaborate story," but they determined that the woman is not the owner. They have no additional leads.
"I think there’s a story behind it," he said. "I think somebody either intentionally threw it on the road there because of some background story -- we can speculate all day -- or it just fell off when someone was moving and it wasn’t secured properly and it flew out the back of a vehicle like a truck. I just don’t know. It’s in good shape. Somebody cared for the thing and I’m sure it has some sentimental value. But maybe sentimental in a bad way."
