— -- A preschool teacher from New York whose friends, family and boyfriend say “always puts everyone ahead of herself” got the makeover of her dreams on “Good Morning America” today.

As a teacher to 2- and 3-year-old children, Taina Velasquez dresses in clothes that enable her to get down on the floor with her young students. She spends little to no time getting ready in the morning.

"I often times wear just overthrown sweaters, sneakers, tennis shoes," Velasquez, 28, explained. "The 2- and 3-year olds at my work dress better than I do. I feel like I don't know how to match my clothes correctly."

When “GMA” issued a call for women who were thinking of getting a makeover for our 60 Minutes to Party Ready series, she responded, writing how much she’d enjoy a holiday makeover so that she can embrace a more sophisticated, sleek side in 2015.

"I would like to dress a little more sophisticated and feel merry for the holidays, and feel cheerful that this will boost my ego and self-confidence as a young woman," Velasquez said.

But it's not just her clothes that Velasquez says needs an upgrade--it's also her hair and makeup.

"My hair is super curly, so I just slap on some mousse or hairspray or gel, curl it up, crunch it up, scrinch it up, and I'm out the door," she explained. "When it comes to makeup, I don't know what I'm doing."

Velasquez's loved ones say a makeover is just what the doctor ordered.

"She's been through a lot, and she definitely needs something to up bring her a little bit," her friend, Delia, said. "She's not as outgoing as she used to be. She used to go out. Now she's mostly at work or she's at home."

"She has a big heart and she's a beautiful person," her boyfriend, Carmel Cruz, added. "But I can see that this would definitely help her confidence, going out more, spending more time out rather than indoors and, you know, taking more pride in her clothes and how she presents herself."

With the expertise of stylist Gretta Monahan, hair stylist Ted Gibson and makeup artist Carmindy, Velasquez was given the holiday makeover of her dreams.

"Blondes do have more fun," Velasquez said after seeing her new hair color for the first time. "This is like my Cinderella moment. I'm in tears."

"She looks amazing," said her boyfriend, Cruz. "I'm still taking it in."

The three experts also offered more tips for how people at home can achieve their own makeovers.
