Rainbow Grilled Cheese is the Latest Colorful Food Trend

— -- Rainbow grilled cheese is now a thing, and it's taking Instagram by storm.

A photo of the colorful toast, taken by food blogger @hkfoodiexblogger, went viral after it was featured on social media platform 9gag's Instagram account Saturday. It had more than 440,000 likes as of this afternoon.

The multicolored sandwich is available at Kala Toast in Hong Kong for 42 HKD, or a little more than $5, according to @hkfoodiexblogger.

Each cheese color has a different flavor, according to the food blogger's Instagram: blue for lavender, green for basil, red for tomato and yellow for a combination flavor of four different cheeses.

"The toast was crispy but I reckon both the flavour of the lavender and tomato were subtle", she wrote. "The basil flavour was the most outstanding one comparatively but the cheese flavour was still not as strong as my expectation."

And while the taste was "rather average," she said she couldn't deny it was "photogenic."

Kala Toast did not immediately respond to ABC News' request for additional information and comment.
