May 20, 2014 -- Ramen may evoke memories of cheap eats during your college days, but this lowly noodle has been making a big-time comeback as a substitute for buns.

It started with the ramen burger, which sandwiches a meat patty between two ramen buns, and it was only a matter of time until other sandwich fillings got involved.

For the latest concoction, it’s cheese. And while it may sound weird, if you think about it, a ramen grilled cheese makes perfect sense. Think mac and cheese, just with spaghetti-like noodles instead of macaroni, and packaged up in a transportable bite.
