Rent the Runway Now Offering Ugly Holiday Sweaters

— -- Nothing screams Yuletide cheer like a boisterous holiday sweater. Now, clothing rental site Rent the Runway has released the Ugly Holiday Sweater Capsule Collection.

The offerings feature 12 tastefully tacky vests, cardigans and pullovers.

Designs range from a snowman skiing in the North Pole to a sewn-on teddy bear, and sequin Santas merrily tossing presents in the air.

The seasonal collection launched just in time for National Ugly Sweater Day, which is Dec. 12.

"Holiday parties are all about dressing up and celebrating with friends," said Jessica Mullevey, head buyer at Rent the Runway. "Now, we have wardrobe options on the site for all kinds of events like black tie galas, cocktail parties and even cheeky-ugly sweater parties."

The knits, retailing from $30 to $80, are priced at $15 for a four-day rental, and $24 for an eight-day rental. Unlike their designer dress rentals, the sweaters are unique and are only available in the sizes listed for each.

Online shops such as tipsyelves.com offer an array of ugly holiday sweaters available for purchase from $44.95 to $64.95. Target also has a collection ranging from $19.99 to $54.99. Or, you can make your own with the Ugly Christmas Sweater Kit, $24.99 at target.com.
