But chances are her friends and family will just call her Charlotte. Paying homage to family heritage, Charlotte Elizabeth Diana takes her name from both sides of her family.

Here are five fun facts about the name Charlotte:

1. It's the female form of Charles, and the middle name of her aunt Pippa.

2. It is the 11th most popular name for baby girls, according to popular baby-name site Nameberry.

3. It has been getting more popular in recent years: BabyCenter reports it was slightly more popular in 2014 than 2013.

4. Its origin is French and it means "free man," according to Nameberry.

5. Popular nicknames are Charlie and Lottie.

The baby girl was born in the Lindo Wing of St. Mary's Hospital, the same place where Kate, 33, gave birth to the couple's first child, Prince George, in July 2013. The new baby is now fourth in line to the throne behind Prince Charles, William and George.
