With the Iowa Caucuses is more than three weeks away now the Republican presidential race taking on -- new urgency to keep power struggle. -- former speaker of the house Newt Gingrich leading in most polls now against former -- governor Mitt Romney. Who addressed this showdown in an exclusive interview today with ABC's David Muir. But -- to aggressively take c'mon at this point to stop he served surging poll numbers for him. Well over the last few debates we've talked about differences between myself and of the candidates Rick Perry for instance he and -- -- at -- on the Social Security. Immigration and I'd expect that Newt Gingrich and I we'll have some differences and will be able to. -- discuss those as well. All this comes on the eve of the big ABC news Republican presidential debate in -- Moines and that'll be moderated by Diane Sawyer and George Stephanopoulos who join us now -- -- this is really crunch time out there right now with the caucuses just. A few weeks away specially for Mitt Romney. What does he have to do to stop the momentum of Newt Gingrich is passed him in most polls. I've been asking George all day what his strategists saying -- How did get somebody ready for prize fight black and he's got to do it and it was the first time he's had to do it this whole campaign he's been the guy getting attacked not the guys had to be. Aggressive he's given some clues out. Over the course of today over how he's gonna duties on his interviewer David -- he doesn't want to -- person. No Newt Gingrich at all he does not want to do that but he is ready to draw some distinctions that Newt Gingrich on policy but Newt can't do tomorrow night -- showed that. You know what he's been accused of in the past being a little -- -- and losing his cool so he's got to find a way. To take all this incoming fire and it's not just going to be coming from -- becoming from the others. As well right and you know terror and is out today I just wonder -- terrorists supermarket and wondered through a drugstore and 11 man's head when I asked him what do you want the candidates to do what are you waiting for -- he said silence. Because they've had not in 2000 ads. Out here on television and he said -- clicker is worn out who else should we want to -- we talked about Gingrich and Romney. It's crunch time for all the rest and to their last shot of the voters who else should we -- Well you know you gotta look at Ron Paul he's got a strong organization here and he's been incredibly tough on Newt Gingrich in the last week in his ads accusing material hypocrisy. The other three. -- and Bachmann Santorum. This is their last shot in many ways because they don't get up into the top tier. Come in third or better in Iowa very hard -- you go against people sent to -- today and it really makes you think that what happened with Herman Cain -- Fifteen -- -- minutes. We're about more than just a novelty initially there were about what seem to be just a straight answer some real people sent to -- -- just say something simply. And can't they just say here's -- -- -- -- there you have it. Here's what I feel there you have it yes no and you know -- -- has been. The one person who has given those kinds of answers so it seems to me that there is still a lot of searching out there for straight talk that. And remember Terry east even here even with all the attention here 67%. Of the voters here in -- are gonna make up their minds. In the last three weeks -- there's still a lot of fluidity. And people hungry for that kind of clarity and leadership is -- when that Diane Sawyer George Stephanopoulos have a great debate out there thanks for doing. And you can catch the Republican contenders tomorrow night in Des Moines, Iowa -- the ABC news debate moderated by George and Diane that'll air live at 9 eastern. And 6 Pacific and I'll see you with full coverage online at Yahoo!.
