One of the strongest storms ever to form on this planet is making landfall tonight with nearly 10 million people in the bulls eye. It's called super typhoon haiyan, 300 miles wide. Bearing down on the philippines right now. Oh, my god. Reporter: This storm has had wind gusts of 235 miles an hour. That is comparable to an extremely powerful category v hurricane. Evacuations ordered. Officials are preparing people for significant risk to lives and property. As it hit land, the sustained wind as opposed to the wind gusts were recorded at an unheard of 195 miles an hour. By comparison, the massively destructive super storm sandy carried gusts of 80 miles an hour. Hurricane katrina, the worst, hit with 120 mile an hour wind.
