WASHINGTON, Aug. 26, 2011— -- As Hurricane Irene barrels toward the East Coast, threatening at least 65 million Americans in some of the largest population centers in the U.S., FEMA director Craig Fugate joins ABC News senior White House correspondent Jake Tapper for the latest details on the hurricane's track, and whether government resources are prepared for a powerful and potentially deadly disaster. New Jersey Governor Chris Christie will also assess the impact of Hurricane Irene on his state as the storm moves ashore across New Jersey.

ABC News correspondents will be fanned out across the region, reporting live from North Carolina to Maryland to New York on the communities directly in the path of the storm.
