--ON DNC EVE, WASSERMAN SCHULTZ ANNOUNCES RESIGNATION: Democratic National Committee Chairwoman Debbie Wasserman Schultz announced she would resign at the end of the convention in a statement on Sunday. “As Party Chair, this week I will open and close the Convention and I will address our delegates about the stakes involved in this election not only for Democrats, but for all Americans,” she said. Her announcement comes amid the release of internal DNC emails by Wikileaks that appear to show the inner workings of the Democratic Party and what seems to be party officials attempting to aid the Hillary Clinton campaign during the primaries. http://abcn.ws/2abegn3

--SANDERS CAMPAIGN CHIEF SAYS SOMEONE MUST BE ‘ACCOUNTABLE’ FOR WHAT DNC EMAILS SHOW. Bernie Sanders campaign manager Jeff Weaver said his team was "disappointed" by the emails from the Democratic National Committee leaked through WikiLeaks, which seemed to reveal staff in the party working to support Clinton, ABC’s MARYALICE PARKS reports. "Someone does have to be held accountable," Weaver said during an interview with ABC News. "We spent 48 hours of public attention worrying about who in the [Donald] Trump campaign was going to be held responsible for the fact that some lines of Mrs. Obama's speech were taken by Mrs. Trump. DONNA BRAZILE: WASSERMAN SCHULTZ ‘DESERVES’ TO BE A PART OF DNC. Democratic National Committee Vice Chair Donna Brazile said Debbie Wasserman Schultz, the committee's embattled chair, "deserves" to be part of the party's convention this week despite recent controversy over leaked emails. "Debbie has spent a lot of time and effort in pulling together this convention," Brazile told ABC News’ GEORGE STEPHANOPOULOS on “Good Morning America.” "She deserves an opportunity to gavel us in, turn over to the permanent chair and she deserves an opportunity, I think, to also close us out." POWERHOUSE POLITICS PODCAST: FORMER TRUMP STAFFER 'INSULTED' HE'S ONLY BEING SUED FOR $10 MILLION. A former top Trump political adviser being sued by Trump for $10 million over allegations that he broke a confidentiality agreement by leaking confidential campaign information to the press says he’s “insulted” that Trump isn’t suing him for more. “If you write $10 million, Mr. Trump, it’s got to be $100 million, 150,” ex-staffer Sam Nunberg told ABC’s JONATHAN KARL in jest during an interview on “Powerhouse Politics” at the GOP convention, adding that it doesn’t make him “look that good” if “I can only cause $10 million in damages.” Trump is seeking the damages in an arbitration proceeding in New York, according to Nunberg's affidavit, for backing Ted Cruz and over claims that he was the source of a leaked story to the New York Post about former campaign manager Corey Lewandowski, ABC’s JORDYN PHELPS reports. http://abcn.ws/2a0fCxB

CLINTON SAYS REPUBLICANS HAVE CREATED A ‘HILLARY STANDARD.’ Hillary Clinton said Republicans have created a “Hillary standard” that has contributed to the negative impression many people have of her, giving her first joint interview with her newly announced running mate, Sen. Tim Kaine. "I often feel like there's the Hillary standard and then there's the standard for everybody else," the presumptive Democratic nominee said in the interview on CBS News' "60 Minutes." HOW CLINTON PICKED KAINE. Like the candidate she picked, Hillary Clinton's vice presidential selection process lacked sizzle. Unlike the public drama that played out before Donald Trump officially unveiled Indiana Gov. Mike Pence as his running mate, Clinton's selection of Sen. Tim Kaine, D-Virginia, was conducted quietly and out of the public eye. Clinton began the process in April after the New York primary, ABC’s BENJAMIN SIEGEL and LIZ KREUTZ report. KAINE HEADS TO CHURCH, SINGS IN CHOIR. Less than 24 hours after making his first appearance as Hillary Clinton's running mate, Virginia Sen. Tim Kaine walked through the doors of the Richmond church he's been part of for more than 30 years to applause so loud it could be heard from outside. It was his first time at church since Clinton announced that he was her vice presidential pick, according to ABC’s JESSICA HOPPER. NOTED: PROGRESSIVES PLOT POSSIBLE PROTESTS AGAINST CLINTON'S VP PICK. A well-known activist and organizer in progressive circles, Norman Solomon with RootsAction.org, said yesterday he is plotting ways to protest the Kaine pick at the Democratic Party's convention, ABC’s MARYALICE PARKS reports. Solomon said the party should take note of polling that suggests high numbers of Sanders' supporters are still leery about backing Clinton. TRUMP CAMPAIGN CHAIR: 'OBAMA SHOULD BE ASHAMED AT WHAT IS GOING ON IN THE WORLD.’ Donald Trump campaign chairman and chief strategist Paul Manafort fired back at President Obama after he said the New York billionaire's comments about Islam are "ultimately helping do ISIL's work,” ABC’s JOHN SANTUCCI and CONOR FINNEGAN notes.  "He should be ashamed of what's going on in the world," Manafort said of the president. "The world is an unsafe place because of his failed leadership." Manafort also defended Trump's comments about NATO. MICHAEL BLOOMBERG TO ENDORSE CLINTON AT DNC. Michael Bloomberg will endorse Hillary Clinton in a prime time address at the Democratic National Convention Wednesday, two Bloomberg advisers tell ABC News. Longtime Bloomberg adviser Stu Loeser tells ABC News the former New York City mayor will speak Wednesday in Philadelphia and endorse the former secretary of state. Another senior adviser to Bloomberg Howard Wolfson said in a statement: "As the nation's leading independent and a pragmatic business leader Mike (Bloomberg) has supported candidates from both sides of the aisle.
