Todorovich Named Deputy Political Director

W A S H I N G T O N, June 24 -- Lisa Todorovich, a journalist with significant experience reporting on national politics, has been named the deputy political director of ABC News, it was announced today by ABC News president David Westin.

Ms. Todorovich will be responsible for coordinating the newsgathering and editorial operations of the ABC News political unit. She reports to Mark Halperin, the ABC News political director. The political unit directs coverage for ABC News television, radio and ABCNews.com, working with "Good Morning America," "World News Tonight with Peter Jennings," "Nightline," "This Week with George Stephanopoulos" and all other ABC News broadcasts. Ms. Todorovich will be based in the Washington bureau.

Ms. Todorovich will also co-author "The Note," the daily political memo written by the staff of the ABC News political unit. "The Note" is regarded as a must-read for anyone interested in national politics. The column, posted on ABCNews.com each morning, contains analysis of political news, links to political stories in other media, a calendar of events and a variety of exclusive features. "The Note" was this month awarded a People's Voice Webby Award.

Most recently Ms. Todorovich was the executive producer of the "Live Online" channel of the Washington Post web site, Washingtonpost.com. She managed live discussion sessions with newsmakers, journalists, politicians and entertainers. Ms. Todorovich coordinated "Live Online's" coverage of major news events, including elections and major policy debates. In the week following the terrorist attacks of September 11, Ms. Todorovich coordinated the production of more than 70 hours of special programming focused on the attacks. She also worked on the site's expanded coverage of the war with Iraq, which included breaking news coverage, analysis of events and spot reporting from Washington Post reporters in the field.

Ms. Todorovich was senior producer for political coverage of Washingtonpost.com from 1997-2000. She produced coverage of the 2000 elections, including special reports on presidential, congressional and gubernatorial races in coordination with the Washington Post . She produced more than 40 live discussions at the Republican and Democratic national conventions. Ms. Todorovich was also responsible for producing "Free Media," Washingtonpost.com's political online talk show. She edited online columns on political history and news.
