When you think no one is watching… what would you do? The successful and popular ABC News series “What Would You Do?” returns with all-new scenarios, beginning FRIDAY, MAY 29 (9:00-10:00 p.m., ET) on ABC. This season, the show travels to San Antonio, Texas, John Quiñones’ hometown, with surprising scenario outcomes that will be featured on an upcoming hour.
Using hidden cameras, “What Would You Do?” establishes everyday scenarios and then captures people's reactions. Whether people are compelled to act or mind their own business, John Quiñones reports on their split-second and often surprising decision-making process.
Friday, May 29 scenarios include:
• Online Predator: At a café, a teenage girl thinks she is about to meet a boy she met online. When he arrives she realizes this boy is really a man in his 40s and has been lying to her the entire time. What will fellow diners do when they witness this happening?
• Race Appropriate Toys: “What Would You Do?” set up their hidden cameras in a toy store to see what would happen when a white child insists on getting a white doll as her black nanny pleads with her to diversify her doll collection with a black doll. Then, what happens when the same child prefers a black doll while her white nanny protests?
• Inappropriate Mom: Will shoppers at a clothing store side with a teenage girl embarrassed by her mother who is trying to dress like her, or with the mother, who won’t back down?
• Invasion of Privacy: A woman asks a bartender to charge her low battery cell phone behind the bar. When she walks away, the bartender starts reading her texts, emails and even tries to share her personal photos with others at the bar. Will anyone intervene when they see this invasion of privacy?
• Bowling Shoe Swap: Players trade their shoes for bowling shoes before playing and when their game is done they return their rentals to get their shoes back. But not today! What will people do when instead of their shoes our inept shoe swap clerk returns them a pair of dirty loafers or a pair of Christian Louboutin pumps?
“What Would You Do?” has won awards from the Chicago International Television Festival and the Avon Foundation’s 2006 Voice of Change award for exposing “injustice and wrongdoing against women and bring the issue of domestic violence to the mainstream.”
