— -- Returning for its second season, “In an Instant” does more than just re-tell heart-pounding first-person accounts of the world’s most harrowing tales of survival; it brings them to life with breathtaking dramatizations of the moments before and after life was forever changed. The powerful series features the trials and triumphs from every angle, and includes gripping first person interviews with the people who lived to tell their stories - and those who were instrumental in helping rescue everyone they could. What key decisions did they make to save their lives? “20/20: IN AN INSTANT” continues on SATURDAY, JULY 9th (9:00 – 11:00 pm ET) on the ABC TELEVISION NETWORK.

Episode 4: “He Picked the Wrong Girl”

On April 3, 2008 at about 9 PM, Ashley Ware heard a knock on the door of her apartment as she was getting ready to leave for her job as a nurse. She thought the knock might be from a deliveryman, but little did she know, the man on the other side of the door came to kidnap her.

The attacker, later identified as Vincent Degidio, asks to use the phone and says he needs a ride. When Ware says “no,” Degidio flashes his gun and threatens to rape and kill her before forcing her to get in her car with him.

After driving for hours, Ware is finally able to escape and runs to a local auto parts shop. Degidio eventually catches up, robbing the store and holding the employees hostage. Unwilling to give up, Ware physically fights off Degidio who then leads the police on a manhunt in the cold, dark night.

Last week “20/20: In an Instant” delivered 3.235M Total Viewers, ranking #2 among all cable and broadcast telecasts only trailing NASCAR’s Sprint Cup. Additionally, it nearly doubled its lead-in at 9:00p.m. and gained audience throughout its 2-hour broadcast.

“20/20: In an Instant” is executive produced by Maria Awes and Andy Awes for Committee Films in association with ABC’s Lincoln Square Productions. Rudy Bednar is Executive Producer on behalf of Lincoln Square Productions.
